Woo, first vector work!

Inspiration came out of the blue when I was a wee bit distracted with day-dreaming during a boring History lesson (Funny how I always managed to get an A on them. :P). I initially intended this to be a digital painting but I felt like trying something new, vector art was my choice. I didn't really refer to any tutorials on this, most of them just didn't really fit the program I was using, and so, I had to get used to a few tools before actually getting this ball rolling. The orca with the frontal view took a little trial and error to get it to look rigt as references for this position are a little rare around here and elsewhere. Didn't expect it to come out this well though. :)

For those wondering why this is in Digital Art> Drawings> Animals, the below checklist of sorts would explain a little:

Looks like vector art: Check.
Done with points and paths : Check.
Done with a vector-based program: Uh, not check.

I've used the GIMP for this, which is a raster-based program and doesn't work like Inkscape or OpenOffice which are vector based programs. This means vector based programs are created of distinct objects that can individually be selected and manipulated. In contrast, raster-based programs, like MS Paint or the Gimp, store pixels. In a vector-based program, a line is defined by as a starting point, an ending point, and a color. You can change the color and other properties after creating the line. In contrast, a line in a raster-based program is simply a series of pixels and cannot readily be changed once created.

Hope that didn't bore you. :bucktooth: Anyways, enjoy!

(I would definately need some critique on this one, I know I might have missed out some rather glaring mistakes here. :hmm:)
